When the Long Range Shooting Club Mildura was started, we worked with the Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) Victoria to provide a genuine reason to be able to own a .50 BMG rifle in Victoria.
The .50 BMG rifle is only to be used for target shooting. This is where our association with the Fifty Calibre Shooters Association of America (FCSA) started. With permission of the FCSA, we started running and hosting FCSA match events. From here, we were then able to submit a proposal to LRD that provided a genuine reason to own a .50 BMG in Victoria.
When submitting your permit to purchase, you will need a certificate of membership from the LRSC which acknowledges and certifies that you are approved to compete and use .50 BMG in club competitions: Fifty Calibre Shooters Association of America events & SSAA Long Range Precision events.
When submitting your permit to purchase for .50 BMG, please ensure that you send a copy of your certificate of membership to compete and use .50 BMG in club competitions to LRD.
When filling in your genuine reason on your permit to acquire, use:
“To compete and use .50 BMG in club competitions – Fifty Calibre Shooters Association of America Events sanctioned events and SSAA Long Range Precision Events.”
